Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

What is Deep TMS?

Overview of the Technology

The advantage of DTMS over conventional TMS is that the H-coil can stimulate deeper areas of the brain without increasing the intensity of the stimulation[92], thus ensuring the continuous stimulating effect of DTMS

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

A beautiful example of how progress is not a straight line

What Happens During Deep TMS Treatment Sessions?

20-minute stimulation sessions

The treatment coil delivers gentle electromagnetic pulses to key areas in the brain involved in mood regulation. These pulses feel like mild tapping on the scalp. The patient will be sitting comfortably in

a chair, awake and alert during the treatment.

Key points:

• Noninvasive in-office procedure

• No downtime after treatment

• Safe and well-tolerated, with no systemic side effects

• Short 20-min sessions (3-min intermittent theta burst session is also available)

• 20 sessions across 4 weeks followed by periodic maintenance sessions

Insurance and Payment

Covered for MDD by Medicare and a majority of private insurers, with continually building coverage for OCD

What symptoms get better?

Anxiety

Prior studies using superficial TMS and medication showed that higher anxiety often reduced treatment effectiveness. In contrast, with H1-Coil treatment, patients with higher baseline anxiety were more likely to have successful outcomes.

Sleep

Having really bad insomnia doesn't make you less likely to respond to TMS!

Hopelessness

Hopelessness

As standard therapies fail, negative expectations about depression treatment have been associated with reduced outcomes for psychotherapy.

As shown in the STAR*D study, 63% of depressed patients fail to achieve remission with first-line medication. 33% fail to achieve remission from any medication treatment.

Everyone knows an alternative is needed,
